23 Songs to Get You Through Deployment Blues

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words, and that which cannot remain silent.” -Victor Hugo

I love music and how it can help me improve any mood that I’m in. During deployments I have moments where I need to be uplifted, reminded about how awesome America is, and sometimes I just need the extra push to have a good cry. These are the songs that help me the most:

1. Bad Day– Daniel Powter
2. Broken Together– Casting Crowns
3. So Small– Carrie Underwood
4. Coming Home– P. Diddy + Skylar Grey
5. The Climb– Miley Cyrus
6. I’ll Keep On– NF
7. A Thousand Years– Christina Perri
8. Fly– Hilary Duff
9. A Drop in the Ocean– Ron Pope
10. I Lived– One Republic
11. I Hate This Part– The Pussycat Dolls
12. Every Storm– Gary Allan
13. It’s Time-Imagine Dragons
14. American Soldier– Toby Keith
15. Courtesy of the Red,White, and Blue– Toby Keith
16. Made in America– Toby Keith
17. I’m Proud to Be An American– Lee Grenwood
18. American Ride– Toby Keith
19. See You Again– Carrie Underwood
20. Citizen Soldier– 3 Doors Down
21. I’m a Survivor– Reba McEntire
22. Demons– Imagine Dragons
23. Hall of Fame– The Script

I’m familial with some of the songs but others are new to me. I will check them out on YouTube and have a listen.

This is a really good list! My friend’s husband just got back from deployment, but I’m going to share it with her anyway. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it!

Deployments do suck! A lot of good can come from them though… you just won’t realize it until after!

Awww. I can imagine how you feel during deployments. We are a military family but I can feel how lonely that can be. Thank goodness you have something to get through. Music always helps.

I love “Broken Together” by the Casting Crowns. I also love Wrong Side of heaven by Five Finger Death Punch. It’s not exactly an uplifting song, so it wouldn’t pass the “getting through” test, but I think it gives us all something to think about. Another excellent fighting song is Disturbed’s Indestructible. Perhaps the two songs I mentioned might be more appropriate for the soldiers away on deployment rather than the families left behind (I was in the Navy for 7 years but was never deployed as I was a reservist). I find the heavier music helps me to get things done.

    Best of luck 🙂
