5 Ways Your Dog Can Help Turn Your Bad Day Around

I’ve had a few of those days…the ones where I walk in the door at the end of the day feeling discouraged, and maybe even a little angry and depressed. I’ve learned that turning to my dog for love and support is a way better alternative to drowning my sorrows in junk food and chick flicks (although I do occasionally love both of those on good nights!). Here are the top 5 ways my dog helps my bad day end on a good note:

1.He’s always up for cuddling

Jojo is a huge border collie, but he has the heart of a little dog that loves to be close. Sometimes watching a good tv show with him by my side can really fill in the lonely and discouraged void.

2.He gives me an excuse to be outside

Fresh air tends to help me put things into perspective. I’ve always found it kind of awkward to walk around my neighborhood by myself, so taking my dog with me is a great way to go for a walk where I can contemplate the bigger picture of life instead of focusing on one bad day.

I also can take him to the dog park to let him run around and socialize with other dogs. The dog park is a great way to boost my spirits. He gets to have fun running around and I get the joy of seeing him happy while getting fresh air. It’s a win-win!

3.He’s a great listener

Jojo is a no-judgment creature. I can talk, vent, and cry, and he loves me all the same. He doesn’t try to tell me how I can fix my problem, or what I should have done to prevent my bad day. He listens, and sometimes just being able to talk out loud is a great way to relieve the pressure of the day.

4.He loves me no matter my failures

Jojo won’t be disappointed in me if I got passed up for a promotion, rear-ended the guy in front of me at a red light, or failed a quiz in class. Coming home to his unconditional love is such a calming and reassuring feeling. I’ll always matter to him, and he’ll always be excited to see me when I walk in the door, no matter what happened to me that day.

5.He reminds me to keep things simple

I tend to overthink things A LOT!! When I have a bad day he reminds me that he’s happy just to have a friend, a roof over his head, and a full belly. Whatever happened to me that day, as long as I have those 3 things, then I can be happy too.

In what ways has your dog helped you?

My beagles are seriously the best. If my hubby is doing something they are right there to keep me company and let me snuggle them.

It’s true that dogs are man’s best friend. My parents used to have dogs and they’re really good dogs. Dogs has great instinct and able to feel if their owner is feeling happy or down.

Dogs can easily detect if their owners are not feeling well or in a good mood. Theire senses are so powerful, which makes them one of the best companion.

Yup, these sound reasonable and worth all the trouble to me, even though I have never owned a dog.

This is why I really want a dog, not just because they are beautiful and affectionate loyal companions but also because they can sense when you are down. Just looking at a dog can make me feel a little better x

I never owned a dog but I know many dog owners are in love with their pups. They are so loyal and heard they were great cuddlers.

I love that dogs force you to get outside. It’s amazing how much better I feel when I get up, move around and get fresh air- even when it’s really cold outside!

This is true about cats too! I only have two cats, and they can cheer me up–when they’re in the mood to, that is 😉 My cats have listened to me rant before, that’s for sure.

What a cute Doggie he is! Pets are so innocent and can always seem to help change out mood around. We do not have a dog but our Guniea Pigs can make that special prrr and turn my bad mood around with how cute they are!
